Open Letter to Bill Maher and Sam Harris

There is a war going on, both literally and ideologically, between the Christian West and the Muslim Middle East. That is why your liberals can’t speak loudly about why Islamic societies support oppression and persecution of women and homosexuals, because first and foremost, in order to appear liberal, liberals position themselves in opposition to war.

I know you know the war drums are beating, so how did you put yourselves in the situation of seeming to support the war in the name of “standing up for liberal values?” Aren’t you opposed to the war? So what does “standing up” mean? You should realize that “standing up” means one thing when we’re just talking and quite another when there’s a war going on. This isn’t something you can just decide. When there is a war and an enemy, you don’t get to choose which of the things you say feed war and which feeds peace.

Stick to your usual line, it’s religion, fundamentalist religion that is the problem, don’t name the enemy if you don’t want to feed the war, if you don’t want to appear to support the war. Don’t name one religion if you don’t want to appear to side with the other religion in the war. Do the math, what’s more important, what’s more helpful? Surely not feeding the bonfires of war to promote “liberal values.”
